How to choose a food dehydrator?

Dehydrator machine helps to remove water from your food without inhibiting nutritional content. In order to achieve this, the machine must distribute hot air evenly and maintain constant temperature across the whole chamber.

Here are some factors to consider when purchasing a dehydrator:

1. Airflow

The biggest factor in the success of food dehydration is the even distribution of hot air in the chamber. It’s important to check with your supplier how they ensure hot air evenly. Some machines are equipped with a fan behind the machine to keep hot air flowing in the chamber.

2.Timer

Dehydrator is usually running for long hours. It’s more convenient when you can set a timer and temperature for the machine to automatically run until it’s finished.

3.Size and capacity

Food dehydration takes a certain amount of time to complete. Some products take up to 10 hours. Be sure to work on your production capacity per day, including rest time for the machine before selecting a model.

Tray size and type of tray (solid or mesh) need to be considered as well.

4.Noise

Some machines generate louder noise which is not convenient to use at home. It’s better to check with the supplier’s noise level or to visit the showroom to test the machine before purchase.

5.Heat insulation and machine material

As the chamber temperature will go up to 100’C. Make sure the machine has good heat insulation to prevent heat leaking. Also for industrial models, it’s recommended for a high-quality stainless steel body.
